Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about FeedFilter — how it works, what it filters, and what it does with your data.
What is FeedFilter?
FeedFilter is a free browser extension that filters AI-generated posts, engagement bait, and custom keywords from LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Reddit. It runs entirely on your device with no data ever sent to a server.
Is FeedFilter really free?
Yes. FeedFilter is completely free with no subscriptions, no premium tiers, and no paid plans. There is a Patreon for those who want to support development, but all features are available at no cost.
Does FeedFilter collect my data?
No. FeedFilter does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All settings and preferences are stored locally in your browser using
chrome.storage.local. There are no analytics, telemetry, or tracking systems.Which platforms does FeedFilter support?
FeedFilter supports LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and Reddit. Platform support can be toggled on or off individually from the extension settings.
How does FeedFilter detect AI-generated content?
FeedFilter uses pattern-based detection to identify common AI language structures, generic phrasing, and low-effort content patterns. It does not use AI itself — everything runs locally on your device.
Can I add my own keywords to filter?
Yes. You can add custom keywords or phrases, and FeedFilter will hide or highlight any post containing them. Popular custom keywords include phrases like "game changer", "thought leader", and "open to work".
What is the difference between Hide mode and Highlight mode?
Hide mode removes flagged posts from your feed completely. Highlight mode keeps them visible but marks them so you can spot them easily. You can switch between modes at any time from the extension settings.
Do I need an account to use FeedFilter?
No. FeedFilter requires no accounts, no sign-ups, and no personal information. Install the extension and it works immediately.
Does FeedFilter work on mobile devices?
FeedFilter is a Chrome extension and works on desktop Chrome browsers. It does not work on iOS Safari, Android Chrome mobile, or mobile apps.
How do I install FeedFilter?
Install FeedFilter from the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, visit LinkedIn, X, or Reddit and it starts working automatically. Click the extension icon in your toolbar to customize settings.
How is FeedFilter different from other social media filters?
FeedFilter is free, runs entirely on-device (no data sent anywhere), does not require an account, and specifically detects AI-generated content and engagement bait. It supports LinkedIn, X, and Reddit with individual platform toggles.
